A lot of my work comes as a reflection of my own feelings and thoughts. And so I made this painting on a rainy day and I tried to focus on my use of colour to convey feelings of boredom and an air of being fed up. As soon as I found the reference I used to create this portrait I immediately resonated with the figure, the blank expression on her face was perfect for the feeling I wanted to portray with this portrait. So although my portraits are always of other people, I often end up seeding a part of me in there somewhere.
